What's the story behind Sweet Crystal?
Sweet Crystal is a renowned Christian Rock band known for their inspiring music and dedication to spreading a positive message. Formed in 1971-1972 by high school friends Marq Andrew Speck, Steve Wieser, and Bill Blatter, the band has been active for over 50 years, with a current lineup that includes Martin Kuchar on bass guitar.
Early Days
The trio began their musical journey playing rock music, heavily influenced by bands like Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, and Rush. They started performing live, opening for notable acts like Bob Seger, Foghat, and Steppenwolf. Initially, their music didn't reflect their Christian faith, but as they grew older, they shifted their focus to create music that would inspire and uplift their audience.

Sweet Crystal's music is deeply rooted in their Christian faith, but their mission goes beyond proselytizing. They aim to offer hope and inspiration through their songs, drawing from their own experiences and struggles. The band's name is inspired by a passage from the Book of Revelation, describing a river of sweet water flowing out from the throne of God, clear as crystal.
